In 2022, Cecília seeks to help Maria’s business even though Luíza has cut her off from Paz’s bank accounts. A fundraiser doesn’t go as planned, leading to a break between Cecília and Maria. In 1922, enraged by Bertha’s escape, Maurício threatens to have his sister Otávia marry Raul, provoking Paz, who he blames for Bertha’s departure. Paz discovers the truth about the murder of Cecília’s parents.
